Conditions

DEFINITIONS

In these terms and conditions, "we", "our", "us", and "MegaView" refer to MegaView Science Co., Ltd.  "You" and "your" refer to the buyer.  "BugDorm" is a trademark of MegaView.  "BugDorm Store" is an online shopping store of MegaView.


PRICING

Our product prices include charges only to BugDorm Store's premises in Taiwan.  Orders shipped outside of Taiwan may be subject to import charges (including duties, taxes, surcharges, and fines) levied by the government of destination country.  BugDorm Store cannot predict or control these charges.  All import charges are borne by the buyer or recipient.  If you are entitled to an exemption of these charges, please provide relevant documents to us after checking out from the BugDorm Store.  See Customs, Duties & Taxes for detailed information.


PAYMENT

BugDorm Store requires advance payment.  You will be offered two payment options when you check out from the BugDorm Store: credit card via PayPal or bank transfer.

  • Credit Card via PayPal

If you have chosen "Credit Card via PayPal" as the payment method, BugDorm Store will forward your ordering information to PayPal's secured website.  PayPal will then take over and walk you through payment procedures.  BugDorm Store keeps no record of credit card information if you pay online via PayPal.

PayPal may reject valid credit cards for various reasons.  PayPal does not usually give details for ways to resolve the problem.  If you encounter problems with PayPal, please pay by bank transfer or contact us to proceed with direct credit card payment.

 NOTE   You do not need to have a PayPal account to make credit card payments via PayPal.  Transactions will appear on your credit card statement as "PayPal *BUGDORM".

  • Bank Transfer

If you have selected "Bank Transfer", you will receive an email with instructions on how to wire funds.  A US$30.00 surcharge will be added to any order with total product value under US$US$600.00 to cover fees charged by intermediary banks.

 NOTE   Orders will be canceled if the payment is not received in seven days of confirmation.


SHIPPING

 NOTE   Our premises are located in Taiwan.  When ordering from the BugDorm Store, the buyer is liable to assure that the product can be legally imported to the destination country.  The recipient of the shipment is considered an importer and must comply with all laws and regulations of the importing country.  BugDorm Store assumes no responsibility for Customs obstacles.  See also Customs, Duties & Taxes for more information.

To ensure delivery, clearly specify recipient name, street address, city, postal code, country, and phone number.  We will mark each shipment with information as supplied.  The five shipping options are FedEx, UPS, Express Mail Service (EMS), Air Parcel, and Surface Air-lifted Parcel (SAL).

    Estimated transit time: usually 14-21 business days, up to 2 months in rare cases

Package tracking for postal air parcels and SAL is slow and may not be available in some areas.  We recommend orders with a time constraint be shipped by FedEx, UPS, or EMS.  FedEx and UPS do not accept P.O. boxes.  Please specify physical addresses to ensure prompt delivery.

Most orders are shipped within three business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving payment.  Since postal regulations on package weights and sizes vary with country, orders to be shipped by EMS, Air Parcel, and SAL may be packed into several boxes and shipped separately.  These boxes may not arrive at the same time.  Delivery by any method may be delayed for Customs clearance.  If the package has not arrived within one week after the delivery due date, please contact us.  We will then initiate an investigation.


CANCELLATION, REJECTION, RETURN, AND REFUND

All orders can be canceled and refunded before the carrier picks up the package.  Orders canceled after the package has left BugDorm Store's premises in Taiwan are considered the buyer has rejected shipment.  BugDorm Store has full authority to dispose of rejected shipments, including the decision to discard them or have them returned to Taiwan.

BugDorm Store allows most products to be returned for a refund as long as we have not discontinued sale of the item and as long as the item is unopened.  Claims for refunds should be made within two weeks of receiving the item.  See online product description for refund ineligibility.

 NOTE   All returns, including shipments rejected for any reason, are subject to a restocking fee (20% of the value of returned products).  Shipping costs, handling fees, surcharges, and import charges are not refundable.  Buyers are also responsible for any fees levied as the return package enters Taiwan.

You will be notified as soon as your return is received and inspected.  You can expect the refund to be credited via your original payment method in one week after the return shipment arrives.  Actual turnaround time for refunds, however, depends on policies of banking institutions making the funds available to you.


WARRANTY

All shipments are packed to ensure safe transport under ordinary handling.  BugDorm Store is not liable for loss, damage, or delay caused by events it cannot control.  These include but are not limited to acts of God, weather, acts of public enemies, war, strikes, civil commotion, or acts of public authorities.

Please carefully check products as soon as you receive the shipment.  If, on arrival, parts are missing or the goods are defective, do not return them to us.  Instead, inform us of the problems (provide pictures of the evidence if possible) and send us proof of purchase (invoice or corresponding communication) within two weeks of receiving the goods.  At our cost, we will send you replacement parts via postal Surface Air-lifted Parcel (estimated transit time: 14-21 business days) unless agreed otherwise.

 NOTE   Our products are not meant for applications not specified in product documentation.  Our offer to free replacement of missing parts and defective goods applies only to the original buyer from the BugDorm Store and is not transferable.


CUSTOMS, DUTIES, AND TAXES

Almost all shipments crossing international borders are subject to import charges (including duties, taxes, and surcharges) imposed by the government of destination country and collected by the carrier and regulatory agencies in their efforts to complete Customs clearance on behalf of the recipient.  The buyer or recipient is accountable for all import charges.  The recipient may be required to pay these fees prior to receiving the shipment

Please note that BugDorm Store cannot estimate or influence import charges.  To avoid these charges, please email or fax applicable exempt certificates or other supporting documents to us after checking out from the BugDorm Store.  These certificates, however, do not guarantee exemption from import charges.  Please check with your local Customs office or tax authority for exempt eligibility.

Some countries demand payment of certain duties and taxes before Customs release.  In this case, a courier may expedite delivery by advancing necessary payment on your behalf.  For example, if your order is shipped by FedEx or UPS, the recipient may not be required to pay import charges upon delivery.  Depending on your agreement with the courier, your obligation may be delayed until you receive an invoice for these advanced fees.


Common Import Charges

Import charges are assessed based on the information provided on the commercial invoice and other relevant documents.  These charges may include:

  • Duties

Duties are assessed by Customs officials and are applied according to the Harmonized System code (HS code) maintained by the World Customs Organization.  Many countries assess duties on the "CIF value" (Cost of goods, Insurance, and Freight) of the shipment.

  • Value Added Tax (VAT)

VAT is normally assessed by Customs officials on the "duty paid value" of the shipment (i.e. CIF value plus duties).  In some countries, including Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, this tax is known as Goods and Services Tax (GST).

  • Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF)

MPF is a surcharge collected by the U.S. Customs for all formal entries from non-NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) countries.  As of 7 November 2010, it is:

0.21% of Entered Value of the Merchandise
Minimum: US$25 per Customs Entry
Maximum: US$485 per Customs Entry

  • Ancillary Service Fee

Ancillary service fee is a surcharge rebilled by the carrier when a Customs broker charges them for additional processing.

  • Advancement Fee

Advancement fee is a surcharge collected by the courier (e.g. FedEx or UPS) when they are required to advance payments (including duties, taxes, and MPF) on behalf of the recipient so Customs will release the shipment.  Depending on destination country, this advancement fee is based on a flat rate or a small percentage of the total amount advanced.  For example, as of 7 November 2010, FedEx assesses this advancement fee on shipments entering the U.S.:
