Berlese Funnels
A Berlese funnel, also known as a Tullgren funnel, is a tool used to extract organisms, particularly small soil-dwelling arthropods such as insects, mites, and springtails. These species respond negatively to desiccation, from soil and litter samples. It was originally introduced by Italian entomologist Antonio Berlese in the late 19th century and later improved by Swedish entomologist Albert Tullgren.
