Insect Aspirators

An aspirator, aka a pooter, is a device that draws small insects into the collecting chamber by applying suction force through a tubing system.  Its noninvasive nature allows researchers to collect live specimens without harming them.  This is especially helpful for fragile insects, small arthropods, or difficult-to-handle specimens such as ants, termites, mosquitoes, flies, parasitoid wasps, aphids, leafhoppers, mites, and springtails.
