Insect Aspirators

An aspirator, aka a pooter, is a device to draw small insects into the collecting chamber by applying suction force through a tubing system. Its non-invasive nature, allows researchers to collect live specimens without harming them. This is especially helpful for fragile insects, small arthropods, or difficult to handle specimens (ants, termites, mosquitoes, flies, parasitoid wasps, aphids, leafhoppers, mites, and springtails).

Our new design HB-type aspirators decrease the risk of swallowing hazardous particles by blowing air into the aspirator with a hand-held syringe bulb instead of sucking air from the aspirator.
